Global Patient Safety Alerts connects the patient safety world in a way it has never been connected before. It advances the vision of WHO Patient Safety of a truly global effort, sharing knowledge of incidents and adding clinical and scientific analysis.
When WHO Patient Safety was launched in 2004, one of its priorities was to develop knowledge and produce guidance on reporting and learning systems. To this effect, WHO Patient Safety published Draft Guidelines in Reporting and Learning Systems in 2005. In 2008, to advance the science and sharing of this key aspect of patient safety, WHO Patient Safety launched a sharing platform, the International Reporting and Learning Systems (RLS) Community of Practice. Its goal is to share learning, innovations, solutions and best practices by validating interventions and working to enhance awareness of reporting and learning systems issues globally. The RLS Community includes hundreds of patient safety experts from around the world.
